The Gambler

I had it all worked out.
I had a clever plan.
But patience is no virtue
For an ordinary man.

I wanted lots of money
I wanted it all and fast
A better life than I had before
For as long as it would last.

Do the crime, avoid the time
It’s not the way to go.
Take a chance, lay it all down
Let destiny take control.

How much will I lose tonight
Not more than I could win
A once in a lifetime gamble
Laying out all I’ve been.

Riding on one number
It’s all that I could choose
Take a chance. Do the dance
Either win or lose.

I had it all worked out.
Tried to be better than I am.
But the odds are all against a win
For an ordinary man.

Keep a hold of what you have
Is the best thing try to keep you cool
Or lose it all
To take a chance is to be a fool
To take a chance is to be a fool

Riding on one number
It’s all that I could choose.
Take a chance. Do the dance
Either win or lose.

Keep a hold of what you have
The best thing you can do.
It’s – win or lose – try to keep you cool.

To take a chance is to be a fool.
To take a chance is to be a fool.
To take a chance is to be a fool.
To take a chance is to be a fool.

Oh, No…
